Capital Caring Health Featured at NBC4 Health & Fitness Expo! January 18-19

Join us and learn more about healthy aging and support services for caregivers

It’s that time of year when many of us think about the year just ended, the one ahead, and what we’d like to do better. And no matter how old we are, improving our health frequently tops the list.

If that describes you, Capital Caring Health (CCH) is here to help. On January 18 and 19, we’ll be at the NBC4 Health & Fitness Expo – the country’s largest health and wellness consumer exhibit of its kind – at booth #1037 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Downtown DC. We hope you’ll stop by and visit our expert staff members who are willing and eager to talk to you about how you can meet your most important health care goals, particularly if you’re a senior citizen or a caregiver for one. You can learn about such issues as aging in place, care tips for elders and self-care advice for caregivers of any age. And if you test your own knowledge about health and aging through our interactive quiz, you may even win a prize. All CCH visitors can also get a souvenir photo as a reminder to be “the picture of health.”

And if you happen to be on hand at 11:30 Sunday morning, drop by the NBC4 booth where on-air personalities will interview CCH’s renowned geriatrician Eric De Jonge, MD as he discusses our newest program, Primary Care at Home.

If you’re a senior, maintaining your health is now more complex than the days of “join the gym.” You probably know you and your loved ones need to see your primary care physician on a regular basis to make sure any chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or high blood pressure are well-controlled, so they don’t grow worse. And if you’re caregiver for a parent, spouse or a child, you likely know you should be taking better care of yourself through healthy habits.

Our new Primary Care at Home (PCH) program is designed to let you and/or family members age in place. PCH will help seniors stabilize and maintain their health, control chronic conditions and stay out of the ER and hospital, all in the comfort, safety and familiarity of their own home for as long as possible.

Our dedicated care teams are equipped with the latest mobile health technology to diagnose and treat illnesses, make urgent care visits, coordinate specialty and hospital care, and help manage daily routines. We created PCH to reduce the need for costly, inconvenient ER visits, 911 calls, and hospital admissions among the area’s senior population.

Primary Care at Home is first available to residents in select zip codes in Chevy Chase, Maryland; Northwest, D.C.; and Fairfax/Arlington, Virginia. Additional neighborhoods will be added at a future date. To be eligible, area residents must be least 65 years old, have a chronic illness and physical or cognitive disability and select one of our physicians to provide their primary care while keeping their specialists.

This program is just one example of how Capital Caring Health can help seniors receive needed primary care services even as they are home limited due to mobility, disability or transportation issues. And, if staying in your own home is also a goal, with PCH you can meet two goals to start off 2020!
